PEC Representative Honored by Junction Rotary Club
In the past three years alone, John has helped the community obtain over $1,000,000 in grant money that was used to fund things such as the rehabilitation of the Boy Scout Hut, purchase playground equipment for JISD Elementary, fund the Summer Youth program, to purchase a new Fire Engine for fire department, a new ambulance for EMS, and to purchase ultrasound equipment and defibrillators for our Hospital, just to name a few. In commenting on the award, Mayor James Murr stated that, “Risher’s unceasing efforts have benefited the community in many ways.” He pointed out that John’s invaluable advice and assistance were very instrumental in helping the City to obtain a $400,000 matching grant for the City Park Improvement Project and that this is but one example of the many ways that John has helped our community during the years. “John Risher is a wonderful person and an asset to PEC and to the communities in which he serves. John is very community oriented and when he knows that a project is worthy he will not stop until he has accomplished his goals. The Junction Fire Department and the community that it serves has been blessed with several pieces of equipment that we could never have even dreamed of having if it were not for John. John has made a huge impact on the safety and response of our department and we are grateful to him.” Fire Department Chief Cecil Conner. “John Risher is a true friend to the Junction Texas Economic Development Corporation (JTEDC)”, said JTEDC Executive Director Patricia Whitty. “John is always willing to share new ideas, resources, relative training and open doors to economic development opportunities for the JTEDC.” “For the last eight years, John Risher has been among the most dedicated and effective forces for change in Kimble County and Junction. Working hard to help PEC reach its goal of securing over $1 million in grants to address critical public safety, infrastructure and human needs, John was a constant presence in Junction, working tirelessly with the county, city, school district and civic organizations,” Bob Hickerson, Texas Tech University. Partnering with the library and many other civic
organizations, John raised over $150,000 over five years to make the Junction
Summer Youth program successful, proving that such an effort is possible.
